Writer/Blogger/Mental Health Therapist. I write about the intersection of faith and mental health and how the Bible has been used to suppress women and marginalized people.

The daughter of missionaries, Judy grew up in three different countries: Brazil, Portugal, and the US. In Brazil, she played with geckos, monkeys, and macaws. She enjoyed starfruit, mangoes, and cashew fruit. She thought this was all normal--what every kid experienced. But when she lived in the US, she experienced snow, ate apples, and went on hay rides. Finally, when she moved to Portugal during her high school years, she scrambled over ancient ruins from centuries gone by and visited castles and museums from kingdoms long gone. She tasted snails and enjoyed codfish and sardines fresh from the ocean.

Judy married a Colorado native, settled down, raised a family-- and mostly forgot about her childhood so she could fit in. But life throws punches, and she began to question what she thought were dearly held beliefs of her faith. Thus began a new kind of journey: exploring truth, finding it in unexpected places, and learning how to be at peace with herself.

Judy holds a Bachelor's degree in Theology and a Master's degree in Counseling. She is the author of Eight Biblical Women Who Changed the World and is currently working on her Chaplaincy credentials. She loves to travel, mentor young women, quilt, and paint.
